Walmart: Shopping & Savings

The Walmart app covers online ordering, grocery pickup and delivery, and in-store features. For anyone who shops there regularly the in-store half is the part that justifies the install.

The in-store features are the point

• Scan and go lets you check prices and, where supported, build a basket while you shop.
• Store maps give the aisle for an item, which in a store of that size saves real time.
• Pharmacy and receipts live here rather than on the website.

Pure online ordering works fine in a browser. The location-aware features do not.

Grocery pickup

The pickup workflow is well built: choose a slot, order, check in from the car park, and staff load the car. Substitutions are the friction point — you can set preferences per item, and doing so at order time avoids most disappointment.

Practical notes

• Location permission is what makes the store features work. Set it to “while using” and they still function.
• Notifications default to including promotional messages alongside order updates. These are separable in settings.
• The app is large and updates frequently.

Availability

It is useful only in markets where Walmart operates. The account and features are tied to a country.
