Color Switch: Endless Play Fun

Color Switch is a one-touch arcade game. A ball rises when you tap, and it can only pass through the section of a rotating obstacle that matches its current colour. Touch the wrong colour and the run ends.

The design

Everything follows from one rule, and the difficulty comes from timing rather than from anything you have to learn. Runs are short and restarts are instant, which is the loop that made the original a hit in 2016.

The obstacles rotate at fixed rates, so the game is deterministic — a failed attempt is readable, and improvement is real rather than luck.

What has changed since the original

This is a later version with substantially more content: a large set of challenges, unlockable balls, and events. The additions do not alter the core, but they do bring the progression and advertising structure of a modern free-to-play title to something that was originally a single endless mode.

Practical notes

• Advertising is frequent between runs. Removal is available as a purchase.
• Unlockable balls are cosmetic and do not affect difficulty.
• It runs on very modest hardware and works offline apart from ads.

A caution

The visual design is built entirely on colour discrimination. For players with colour vision deficiency it can be difficult to impossible, and there is no colourblind mode. Worth knowing before installing rather than after.
